Microsoft reports that since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, at least six Russian hacker groups have carried out approximately 240 attacks on Ukrainian digital resources. This was reported by CNN citing a report from Microsoft.

The main conclusion of Microsoft experts is that Russian hacker attacks often coincide with the struggle of individual units against certain institutions or facilities.

“Russia’s use of cyberattacks appears to be closely linked, and sometimes directly linked, to its military operations,” said Tom Bert, Microsoft vice president.

Russian hackers “are working to discredit organizations in regions across Ukraine” and may be gathering intelligence on Ukraine’s military partnership months before the full-scale invasion in February,” a Microsoft report said.

“In the weeks since Russia’s last invasion of Ukraine, some experts and US officials have been surprised by the absence of major devastating or grueling Russian cyberattacks on the country. Possible explanations range from disrupting Russia’s military planning to strengthening Ukraine’s defenses. . ” was said.

In the first weeks of the war, Microsoft talked about the organized cyber-attack of the Russians, in which the infrastructure of tens of thousands of Internet providers in different regions of Ukraine was disabled and tens of thousands of users were deprived of access to the network for hours.

Russian hackers also tried to disrupt a power plant in Ukraine that would cut off electricity to nearly 2 million people, but failed.
