For three months, the team studied the physical and psychological health of people who reduced their use of social networks by 15 minutes a day. Results were compared with groups with no change in behavior.
Results
50 participants (33 women and 17 men) aged 20-25 each month answered questions about their health and psychological state and reported on their use of social networks.
The results showed:
- In the group asked to reduce their presence on social networks, on average 15% better immunity – they suffered less from colds, flu and warts. They also achieved a 50% improvement in sleep quality and a 30% reduction in depressive symptoms.
- It is noteworthy that those who are asked to reduce the use of social networks by 15 minutes a day increase this time on their own. At the end of the study, they spent an average of 40 minutes less time on social networks than before.
- Participants are from the control group. increased their stay on social networks by an average of 10 minutes per day.
- The third group was specifically asked to do something else.increased their use, as well as social networks, by about 25 minutes per day.
Previous research has also stated that there is a relationship between reduced social media use and increased psychological well-being. New studies show that it is also good for physical health.
