And yes, I repeat, I wish this was humanity’s biggest problem, but the truth is, it’s a problem that could have a simple solution, but has resisted until now.

This is because when you copy text to the Windows clipboard, not only its contents are stored in memory, as well as the format in which he was Font, bold and italics, size, effects… everything related to the way the text is presented is temporarily stored with the text itself. So when you copy text from a source in which it had a certain format, such as a web page, and paste it into a Word document using the classic keyboard shortcut Control + V, the complete package will arrive in the text of your Word document.

Sometimes this may not be a problem. However, what is common when we work on a Word document is that we prefer to use certain formats, whether they are the default formats from the Microsoft word processor or, and for an even greater reason in this case, those that we used before. defined so that the end result adapts to our preferences.

Microsoft Word is a productivity application, so it can be expected to provide the most suitable environment for increasing just that, productivity. So it seems that the folks at Redmond have decided to settle this historical debt (okay, maybe I’m going too far, but personally I think it’s a major advance) and have brought a keyboard shortcut to Microsoft Word for Windows and Mac that, in fact, It has been present in the company’s other apps and services for some time nowlike in Microsoft Teams or in the web version of the word processor itself.

According to what we can read in Windows Central, Microsoft is already testing a keyboard shortcut for inserting plain text in Word for Windows and for macOS. And most likely, it will not be a particularly new key combination for you, since we have already seen it in various applications and services. It’s Control + Shift + V in Windows, while we’ll have to press Command + Shift + V to use it in Word for Mac.

The Paste Plain Text shortcut is currently only available to members of the Microsoft 365 Insider Program because it is being tested in the program’s beta channel. However, and since this is an abbreviation that can almost be considered standardized, this is to be expected it doesn’t take too long to make the jump to the final version of Word.
