Synology DiskStation DS423+ is a new NAS with which the company strengthens its already extensive product catalog. It is primarily intended for home offices and small businessesalthough any consumer or professional will appreciate the benefits of this type of storage and networking solutions.

The Synology DiskStation DS423+ is part of the manufacturer’s “Plus” series and offers capacity up to 72 Tbytes with its four positions. Like other NAS from the manufacturer, it can also be used as an edge node in distributed deployments. Supports 3.5″ or 2.5″ SATA hard drives and hot-swappable features two free slots for installing M.2 2280 SSDs which will usually serve as a cache to speed up access to the most used data.

This model is equipped with a processor Intel Celeron J4125 with four 2.7 GHz cores and a hardware encryption module (AES-NI). It contains 2 GB of DDR4 RAM expandable by another 4 GB module and has two 1GbE Ethernet ports and two additional USB 3.2 ports for connecting external storage devices.

Its high performance, with sequential read/write data transfer up to 226/224 MB/s. This level of performance can be increased by using SSDs in the M.2 2280 slots to create SSD storage volumes without taking up standard drive bays.

Like all Synology NAS, it includes free DiskStationManager (DSM), one of the best NAS operating systems on the market, designed to meet the storage, backup, data protection, file sharing and password management needs of any type of user or company.
