LinkedIn is the next in a long line of companies to recently introduce AI capabilities based on OpenAI’s GPT models. In the case of LinkedIn, this is of course not surprising: Thanks to the multi-billion dollar investments by the parent company Microsoft, the business social media platform has access to OpenAI technology. It has used this to introduce AI capabilities to both staff and donors.
A first function helps you to create your profile. Under the “About” field, you can briefly introduce yourself to anyone who views your profile. Can’t find that sentence or two that sums you up aptly? Generative AI wouldn’t be generative AI if it couldn’t solve this problem.
Based on your experience, education, skills and other publicly available information about your profile, you can now have LinkedIn create an introduction yourself. Because AI can provide unpredictable results, it is recommended to review and adjust the summary before publishing.
LinkedIn also wants to support companies in their search for employees. The social media platform is a popular medium for posting job offers. With the help of AI, this is now easier than ever. You enter your job title and company name, and LinkedIn creates a job description for your vacancy. You can also customize these to your own liking before sharing them through your Company Page or personal account.
Both functions are only available to LinkedIn Premium members. To help everyone discover the benefits of AI for their own careers and business, LinkedIn is offering more than 100 free courses through June 15th.
