In the southern region of Brazil, 5G arrived promising more speed and practicality, but it is still limited to large municipalities, and there are still many problems to be solved on roads and highways. In accordance with Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), only 4.32% national territory has 3G and as regards 4Gcoverage is slightly higher: 12.45%.

One of the goals of the current generation of mobile Internet according to the scenario is to increase the stability of communication, but it is on the roads that the signal is unreliable, and this is very dangerous when it comes to improving safety on the highways.

Despite the great potential, since at the moment the possibilities are limited, and on many routes the maximum is only 3G, experts note that efforts must be made to make the 5G signal viable in areas that really benefit from technological developments, and not just in large cities.

The importance of 5G for Brazilian drivers

Even if high-quality Internet is important in large cities, connectivity can be even more relevant for those who work behind the wheel, as is the case with truckers who need a stable means of communication via mobile phone, as car monitoring with trackers provides an additional layer of security for the transport sector.

“It is useless to have 5G in major centers unless it has as big an impact on our sector as having 3G at the edge of the runway. We have a truck that rarely breaks down, but if it does, it’s on weekends when the cell phone doesn’t receive a signal and the driver has to walk a mile to say the car has broken down. We know he stopped, but we don’t know if he’s on the side of the road or at a gas station.”
