The bug in ChatGPT only shows the very short descriptive title, not the full chat history. OpenAI is working on a solution.
Last night ChatGPT went offline only to resurface ten hours later. Paid users got access first, then the free version. Already at this point there was an error in the chat history that has not yet been fixed at this point in time.
A screenshot appeared on Reddit this afternoon where one logged in user could see another’s history. An OpenAI spokesman confirmed to Bloomberg that there is a bug in the system. Some users see a list of someone else’s descriptive titles. It only affects the short titles, not the entire chat history.
At this point, the sidebar will display a message: “History is temporarily unavailable. We are working to restore this feature as soon as possible.’
The latest status update on ChatGPT shows that all services are back up but the chat history is not working yet. OpenAI does not pass on more information. You can follow everything from the live status page.
The bug is a good reminder for everyone to be careful with sensitive information within ChatGPT. OpenAI also emphasizes this on its own website. That doesn’t change the fact that organizations today are undoubtedly very curious about what the tool can do to improve things.
