The device is already being used by medical centers in some countries around the world for planning operations or remote training of specialists, whether they are doctors, surgeons or nurses. A PBSF (Protecting the brain, saving the future), an organization that uses technology to prevent neurological consequences in newborns, for example, will use HoloLens 2 to evaluate children at high risk of irreversible brain damage.

According to world data, more than a million children are born every year with perinatal asphyxia, which can lead to death or leave problems for life. In Brazil, PBSF estimates that between 20,000 and 30,000 children are diagnosed with the condition each year. Physicians caring for newborns will be able to use the equipment to communicate with specialists from the institution based in the Observation and Intelligence Center located in São Paulo.

HoloLens 2 also allows professionals to collaboratively assess a diagnosis and indicate if and how a child needs specific treatment. In doing so, it is expected to track all cases of infants at high risk of traumatic brain injury and reduce the number of deaths and preventable neurological complications to zero.

A Holy House Sao Paulo will be the first hospital to use this tool, and other PBSF partner hospitals will also have access to this technology.
