MSI announces four models with brand new Nvidia RTX Ada generation GPUs.

One day after the launch of the new generation of professional mobile graphics cards of the Nvidia RTX Ada generation, MSI presents its new lineup. It’s the first laptop brand to announce models with the new GPUs, showing that MSI is increasingly trying to conquer the professional market.

Each of the four MSI CreatorPro models is ISV-certified for optimal performance in almost any professional software suite, from 3D modeling to architecture, engineering, analytics, and STEM directions. Software vendors such as Adobe, Autodesk, Siemens, Graphisoft, Ansys, Dassault Systèmes, Enscape and 3Design support ISVs.

Additionally, each MSI CreatorPro below includes a TPM 2.0 module, with the top three models featuring hardware TPM protection with an additional chip. The base model MSI CreatorPro M16 has to make do with software TPM. In addition, all four models have Windows Hello biometrics, thirteenth generation Intel chip, Wifi 6E and DDR5 RAM.

MSI Creator Pro X17 HX

The absolute top model is undoubtedly the MSI CreatorPro X17 HX, which comes with an Intel Core i9-13980HX: Intel’s currently fastest mobile chip. The CPU is supported by an Nvidia RTX 3500 Ada Generation GPU that has 12 GB of GDDR6 on board.

To top off the package, MSI ships a 17.3-inch UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) 144 Hz mini-LED display that is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified. The screen is said to guarantee a color gamut of up to 100 percent DCI-P3, which is good news for creative professionals. There is no touch technology in this screen.

With the MSI CreatorPro X17 HX you can configure up to 128 GB DDR5 RAM. The manufacturer doesn’t share any storage options in its announcement, but inside there’s room for two NVMe M.2 slots that support PCIe Gen 4 and even an additional slot that supports PCIe Gen 5. The laptop has an IR camera for facial recognition and a fingerprint sensor.

MSI includes a powerful 330 watt charger to supply all components with maximum power. So much cooling and performance requires a lot of space for a large device. The device measures 397 x 330 x 23 mm and weighs an impressive 3.3 kg. There is no shortage of connectivity with 2x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), 3x USB-A (USB 3.2 Gen2), 1x Mini DisplayPort, 1x HDMI (v2.1) and an SD card reader.

How much this powerhouse will cost and when the device will be on the market is still unclear for the time being. MSI will release more information at a later date closer to launch.

MSI Creator Pro Z17 HX Studio

Those who want almost the same thing as the monster configuration above, but in a slightly thinner and lighter chassis, can reach for the MSI CreatorPro X17 HX. You can configure the same Intel CPU but have a choice of two Nvidia configurations: RTX 3000 Ada Generation (A13VKT) or RTX 2000 Ada Generation (A13VJT). Both have 8 GB of GDDR6 on board, but differ in the number of CUDA cores.

The 17-inch screen is now not a mini-LED variant, but a traditional one with a resolution of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels and 165 Hz. You now get a touchscreen compatible with an active stylus, which MSI puts in the box . For creative professionals, MSI again guarantees 100 percent DCI-P3 color space.

As the only laptop of all models, the MSI CreatorPro X17 HX gets a 1080p webcam, as opposed to 720p on the other three devices. Additionally, you can configure up to 64GB of RAM and there’s room for storage inside with an NVMe M.2 slot supporting PCIe 5.0. The laptop has an IR camera for facial recognition and a fingerprint sensor.

Due to the thinner case (382 x 260 x 19 mm) and the lower weight (2.49 kg), there are also slightly fewer connections on the device: 2x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), 1x USB-A (USB 3.2 Gen2) , 1x HDMI (v2.1) and an SD card reader. MSI includes a 280-watt charger in the box to make the most of its powerful specs.

MSI Creator Pro Z16 HX Studio

The smaller brother of the above device is known as the MSI CreatorPro Z16 HX Studio and has almost the same specs but in a smaller chassis (359 x 256 x 18.4mm) that weighs slightly less (2.35kg).

The only difference between the MSI CreatorPro Z16 HX Studio and the H17 variant is one less USB-C port, a 720p camera and a 120Hz screen instead of 165Hz on the 17-inch model.

MSI Creator Pro M16

The entry-level model is called MSI CreatorPro M16 and packs a decent amount of horsepower with a maximum of one Intel Core i7-13700H. When it comes to Nvidia GPUs, you can choose between the RTX 3000 Ada Generation (B13VK), RTX 2000 Ada Generation (B13VJ) and RTX A1000 (B13VI). The first two GPUs have 8 GB GDRR6 on board, the RTX A1000 has to make do with 6 GB GDDR6.

Inside there is room for up to 64GB of DDR5 and two NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots for fast storage. No IR camera for facial recognition this time, just a fingerprint sensor that’s Windows Hello compatible. The webcam is a basic HD (720p) model.

You can configure the 16-inch screen in two flavors, both non-touchscreen. Creative professionals should go for the QHD+ variant (2560×1600 pixels), where MSI guarantees a 100 percent DCI-P3 color space. If you prefer a higher refresh rate, you can use the FHD+ option (1920×1200 pixels) at 144 Hz.

The MSI CreatorPro M16 is lighter than the rest of the range at 2.29 kg and measures 359 x 259 x 26.95 mm. This considerable thickness is noticeable in comparison to the other models. It’s the only one that doesn’t support Thunderbolt 4 over USB-C. All ports are 1x USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 1), 2x USB-A (USB 3.2 Gen 1), 1x USB-A (USB 2.0), 1x HDMI (v2.1) and 1x RJ-45 (network access). Oddly enough, MSI does not install an SD card reader in this device despite the more robust case.

MSI does not currently announce pricing or an availability date. Over the course of the year, the manufacturer will provide more clarity as to when the devices will come onto the market.
