Toyota discontinues Camry sedan

What, in the opinion of an ordinary Russian motorist, is better than a Toyota Camry? Maybe just another Camry. And in its homeland, in Japan, it turns out that this model is treated very differently – and there it is taken out of production.

Toyota Motor Corporation headquarters sent a notice to its Japanese dealers that it was stopping production and sales of one of its best-selling Camry sedans in the domestic market. Nevertheless, deliveries of the popular model abroad continue unabated according to the Nikkei edition.

Recall that the first generation Camry was released in Japan in 1980. The current (tenth) generation of the sedan has been produced since 2017. The company is gearing up to launch the next 11th generation Camry in the near future. However, she will no longer be in her homeland. Note that as of the end of 2022, more than 21 million units have been sold in the world throughout the model’s entire existence.

As for the Russian market, about a year ago the Japanese stopped production of Toyota Camry at their plant near St. Petersburg due to the closure of the enterprise. And in the fall of 2022, they announced their withdrawal from Russia. But to this day you can still find the “zero” sedan in showrooms, although stock will probably run out soon. So the Russians will have to be content with the operation of used four-wheelers, relying on the so-called “Japanese quality”.
