More than 450 people arrested during the ninth strike in France

Riots recorded during protests convened on Thursday against pension reform have ended across France more than 450 detainees, according to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, who denounced acts of violence against members of the security forces and public goods.

In particular, the Ministry is aware of 457 arrests, again with Paris as the main epicenter for the ninth day of mass strikes. Only in the capital were registered more than 900 fires, Darmanin explained in an interview this Friday on the network Cnews.

Minister concerned “radicalization” observed in certain groups because although the vast majority of the protesters protested peacefully against the reforms, authorities estimate that between 1,000 and 1,500 people staged incidents in Paris.

Darmanin also talked about the “difficult” account, i.e. wounded policemen and gendarmes, which is 441 people. However, he also promised that any excess that the agents might have committed “individually” would be punished, and announced that eleven investigations in this regard were already open.

The government, also through President Emmanuel Macron, condemned the violence during the demonstrations, which have intensified in recent days following parliamentary approval of a reform that proposes, among other things, raising the retirement age to 64 and increase the period of contributions required to receive a pension.

The unions, mobilized as a united bloc since January, have warned that They will continue to strike.
