Microsoft Sentinel collects telemetry from your IT environment, and NTT examines that telemetry to identify and address suspicious situations. In short, this is what NTT is announcing with its new Managed Detection & Response (MDR) solution. MDR is a relevant service in the security world as it essentially enables organizations to outsource their cybersecurity to an external specialized party.
NTT itself refers to 25 years of experience with Microsoft and the strategic partnership that has existed since 2020. This explains why the MDR service is based on Microsoft Sentinel. The heart of this SIEM platform beats in the cloud, enabling it to collect telemetry data about users, devices, applications and infrastructure at scale in a hybrid multi-cloud environment. A layer of automation and AI then makes it possible to take action based on the information gathered.
That is NTT’s role in the new MDR service. The company applies analytics, machine learning, and up-to-date threat intelligence to data from your organization to identify suspicious activity. If something is wrong, NTT staff can take action remotely, for example to isolate a compromised system.
The service actually responds to a current demand from the market. New research from security specialist Fortinet recently found that the lack of talented security specialists is having an impact on the incidents that companies must deal with. Outsourcing is a solution for this.
