After a series of speculations and rumors about the Lenovo Legion smartphone line, the manufacturer has confirmed to the Android Authority that it has completely shut down its line of cell phones aimed at gamers.. The latest model presented by the company was the Legion Y70, released in August last year.
Last week, a Lenovo employee would have made a post revealing the possible end of the company’s line of mobile phones for gamers. Nevertheless, confirmation from the manufacturer came only last Tuesday (28) through the Android Authority, officially ending the production of devices.

Without revealing too much about Lenovo’s plans for the smartphone world going forward, the company told Android Authority that the end of the Legion line means “part of a broader business transformation.” In addition, he confirmed the company’s desire to continue working with a line of gaming phones.
“Lenovo is phasing out its Android-based Legion mobile gaming phones as part of a broader business transformation and consolidation of its gaming portfolio. As a leader in gaming devices and solutions, Lenovo is committed to advancing the gaming category across all form factors, as well as focusing on where it can bring the greatest value to the global gaming community,” the company said in a statement.
Smartphones of gamers are not scored
It’s important to note that the end of Lenovo’s Legion line could be due to the lack of popularity of the device, which failed to replicate the success made in China for the rest of the world. However, it is important to emphasize that this problem is not limited to the company responsible for the Legion Y90 and other gaming devices.

This is because Xiaomi has not been able to achieve the desired success with the Black Shark line. The Chinese manufacturer recently laid off hundreds of factory workers, showing a much larger problem that is not exclusive to Lenovo. However, there are other companies that are struggling to stay active and stand out in this area.
One such example is ASUS, which continues to work hard on the ROG Phone line. They recently confirmed the release of ROG Phone 7, a device aimed at gamers, on April 13th.
