AeroVironment company presented the updated Switchblade 300 Block 20. The ammunition is based on the combat use experience of the Switchblade 300 Block 10 and has new functions. This is stated in the company’s message. Switchblade 300 Blok 20 is portable, lightweight and easy to use. Only one operator is required to use it.

It was noted that the new fire control system, which can be installed on the tablet, allows operators to easily train, plan and execute missions. The operation of the system is further simplified thanks to the integrated control directly on the launch tube. The updated kamikaze drone weighs less than 2.2 kg and can be deployed in less than two minutes. The launch can be carried out from land, sea or mobile installation. Like its predecessor, the Switchblade 300 Block 20 retains the operator’s ability to collide with a moving target in a dynamic environment.

The updated Switchblade 300 also provides more than 20 minutes of tactical reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition. The drone transmits real-time video for use against targets beyond line of sight. The munition features improved digital data link (DDL) range, a new EO/IR panoramic camera package and continuous target identification (PID). Barrage munitions feature GPS communication protocol at Cursor Target, which provides situational awareness, information gathering, targeting and object recognition.

The new Humvee variant has the capacity to carry 10 Switchblade 600 heavy barrage munitions and 14 smaller Switchblade 300 at the rear of the vehicle.

The drone folds into a special launch container and its wings unfold after launch. The Switchblade 300 is useful for attacking long-range targets and providing fire support to units under heavy enemy fire.

Ukrainian army uses Switchblade 300 barrage munitions to destroy enemy positions. As of February 20, 2023, the United States has transferred more than 700 Switchblade kamikaze aircraft to Ukraine.
