Galaxy S22 models released on or after March 29, 2023 will now include a charger in the box. The same will be done with the Galaxy S21 FE from the beginning of April. Anyone who purchases one of the models without a charger will be able to redeem the accessory for free through the Samsung For You website.

Samsung listens to Procon

The South Korean company has started to include a charger with all cell phones released since August 2022. For example, the entire Galaxy S23 line puts the accessory in the box.

The idea of ​​removing the charger from the box under the pretext of reducing “greenhouse gas emissions” originated with Apple. Samsung soon followed suit, to the dismay of consumers around the world. With this, Procon has started an extensive battle and notifies stores that sell smartphones without a device. Procon has already fined Apple for the same reason, and Samsung launched the Samsung For You program to avoid legal complications.

However, the situation in Brazil is unique because around the world, the company continues to sell smartphones without a charger. For example, the Galaxy A14 4G, a new entry-level smartphone, does not come with a charger in some countries. The version that arrived in Brazil (5G) includes a charger in the box. While Samsung is listening to Procon, Apple is more reluctant to take the same action. Perhaps the company is afraid to take action here and will be forced to turn on the charger in the rest of the world. Consumers will probably like this solution.
