Five year old girl made a surprise purchase Amazon with mom’s credit card. Jessica Nunez, a Westport resident, gave her daughter Lila her phone as a distraction while they were in the car. What she did not expect was that the girl would make a $3,000 purchase from an online store.

According to Jessica, her daughter asked to play on her phone and she agreed. “She pressed the yellow button and the brown button,” Lila explained when asked how she made the purchase. The mother was shocked when several boxes of Amazon shopping began arriving at her home, including five pink motorcycles, five blue motorcycles, 10 pairs of cowboy boots and a Jeep.

Jessica was initially concerned that many items could not be returned. However, after explaining the situation to Amazon, the company accepted the return of everything. Instead of punishing Leela, the mother decided to turn the situation into a learning opportunity.

“I told her that if she behaves well and does some housework, we can buy her a bike that is more suitable for her age, maybe a little slower.Jessica said.
