NATO’s Tallinn-based Center for Cyber Security Cooperation (CCDCOE) will host Locked Shields 2023, the world’s largest cyber defense exercise, with approximately 3,000 participants from April 18-21.

This was reported by ERR TV and radio broadcaster Ukrinform.

Participants in the exercise will solve real tasks in the field of cybersecurity, such as countering attacks on power grids, increasing the protection capability of networks and making tactical and strategic decisions in a critical situation.

“No other cyber defense training offers as specific and detailed an experience as Locked Shields. “24 teams from around the world will need to keep critical infrastructure and IT systems alive,” said Mart Noorma, Director of CCDCOE.

According to him, the organizers prepared training for seven months and created more than 5,500 virtual systems.

In addition to NATO CCDCOE member countries, groups from 38 countries will participate in the exercises this year.

The NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (NATO CCDCOE) is one of NATO’s centers of excellence. It provides the training and education of NATO cyber defense experts, as well as countermeasures against cyber attacks and cyber protection of information systems. Since its establishment in 2008, it is headquartered in Tallinn.

In March 2022, Ukraine was granted the status of NATO CCDCOE member state.
