The Federal Aviation Administration has scheduled the rocket’s orbital test flight for Monday, April 17, but SpaceX can only do so if a launch license is approved by then.
Starship is the world’s most powerful rocket that will be used to send humans to the moon and eventually to Mars. This is a two-stage rocket system consisting of a Super Heavy launch vehicle and a Starship spacecraft.
Elon Musk has sold seats at future Starship launches, including Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, who plans to take eight people with him as part of the DearMoon program to make the first manned flight to the moon.
But SpaceX must prove that Starship can safely enter orbit before flights begin. The completion of this orbital test flight will be the first step for the company to bring Starship flights to life.
