A new Xiaomi patent has surfaced on the internet. This revealed that the company may be working on a unique smartphone with a swipe-like display. Here are all the details.

The latest patent of the Chinese tech giant has been spotted under the application number CN307959735S. This design patent also shows the look of this smartphone. The documentation contains sketches of the device’s design. When we look at these images, we can see that on one side of the smartphone there is a columnar part that houses the flexible screen. This housing component has a special scrolling shape, possibly related to the screen that rolls into it.

In other words, it can also function as a scroll when the screen is removed/opened from the case. While it is interesting to imagine that Xiaomi is working on such a product, it is clear that this is still a conceptual design and not a mass production ready device. Unfortunately, small details such as technical specifications are still unclear, although this patented mobile smartphone may have a retractable camera module.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen such a futuristic device, and we’ve seen LG’s foldable TVs before. Therefore, a mass mobile phone should not be far ahead in the future.
