ABOUT Spotify announced this Thursday (13) that released a new widget for the lock screen iphone which will allow users to directly access the application without having to unlock the device. The novelty will be available to all users who have iOS 16 or later installed on their iPhone.
In addition to being able to learn by listening to a quiet playlist, the public can expect Synthwave Boy to play…
Widget support on the lock screen was introduced in iOS 14, and since then a number of developers have created widgets that provide a more user-friendly interface. Big companies like Google, Facebook and Snap have already signed up for the new feature.
Now Spotify has also decided to invest in a novelty and offer its users a lock screen widget. The goal is to allow users to access their favorite playlists and podcasts without having to unlock their iPhone and search for an app on the home screen.
To add a new Spotify widget, the user has to tap the lock screen with their finger until the “Personalize” button appears at the bottom. Clicking this button will take you to the widget area where you can select a Spotify widget and add it to your lock screen.
In addition to the new lock screen widget, Spotify already provides other widgets in different sizes for the iPhone home screen. Thus, the user can have quick access to their latest music and podcasts. The app also supports Apple Live Actions, which allows the user to control music playback right from the lock screen.
To use Spotify’s new features, you need to update the app to the latest version and install iOS 16 or higher on your iPhone. The addition of a lock screen widget should make accessing Spotify even easier and faster for its users.
Spotify recently announced that it is shutting down its Spotify Live audio app. According to Music Ally’s website, the company has stated that the app no longer makes sense as a standalone app and has therefore decided to shut it down.
According to Gail Gaviola Moro, a spokesperson for the company, in an interview with The Verge, Spotify will continue to offer live audio in other limited ways in the main app, such as so-called “listening parties,” a feature that allows fans to connect with artists in a virtual space.
Spotify launched the Spotify Live app in 2021 in response to Clubhouse’s popularity and even acquired Betty Labs’ live audio service for €57 million to help build the app. However, after reports that the service was struggling to gain momentum, the company renamed the Spotify Live app and moved it to the main app to make it more visible.
