“For the first time in nearly two years, Perseverance is close enough to see dust on Ingenuity’s rotors,” JPL said.
From a distance of about 23 meters, Ingenuity is said to “stand up well in the harsh Martian environment.”
Last week, the American space agency NASA conducted the 50th launch of the Ingenuity helicopter to Mars as part of a research mission that set a new in-flight altitude record.
As Ukrinform reports, the Ingenuity helicopter was delivered to the Red Planet along with NASA’s Perseverance rover on February 18, 2022, after nearly seven months of flight. Ingenuity made its maiden flight on 19 April. The $85 million helicopter became the first plane to be launched from another planet.
