Adobe is adding a new feature to its Illustrator graphic design software that allows users to quickly change the color scheme of a vector graphic thanks to AI.

Illustrator users can upload their Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files to the Illustrator Vector Recoloring tool, which then generates different colors and palette variations in seconds. To change the colors of a vector image, you can enter a text description of the desired colors or choose one of the proposed color palettes.

Adobe is introducing Illustrator Vector Recoloring as the next phase in Adobe Firefly, a suite of creative generative AI models that the company recently made available in public beta. The new feature is now available for testing within the Firefly Beta. Adobe has not yet announced when we can expect a full version of the tool.

Choose color schemes based on prompts

A video demonstration of the feature shows that text descriptions for desired colors don’t have to be particularly specific. For example, a prompt like “underwater coral reef” has already changed the preview image to different shades of blue, pink, and coral orange. The default prompts in Illustrator have similar names, e.g. B. “Salmon Sushi” and “Terracotta Desert”. The colors in the icon above the name give you an idea of ​​the colors in the palette before you apply them.

Unlike other generative AI products, this feature does not create product images. The tool just offers a new way to quickly change the color palette of an existing vector image.

Adobe wants to streamline the creative process

Many of the new features Adobe has recently added to its applications use AI to streamline complex and resource-intensive tasks. In this way, Adobe wants to help photographers, videographers, and graphic designers save time in the creative process.

Both Photoshop and Lightroom received an update after last year’s Adobe Max conference, allowing users to automatically select objects in an image. As a result, you as the user no longer have to add a mask manually when editing images. Additionally, earlier this week, Adobe Lightroom added an AI feature to remove image noise.
