Democratic Gov. WashingtonJay Inslee signed the bill on Tuesday ban the sale of assault weapons US citizens of that state after approval by the House of Representatives last week.
The bill, approved last week by the House of Representatives as well as the Senate, would ban the manufacture, import, distribution and sale of assault weapons in the subject. with the exception of those sold to the army and law enforcement picked up the chain CNN.
“Gun violence poses a threat to the public health and safety of Washingtonians,” the law says, adding that “Assault rifles are civilian versions of weapons designed for the military. and is designed to kill as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

Following the signing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement that with the decision, “Washington became the 10th state to ban assault weapons. and remove military weapons from the streets.”
“President Biden Praises Governor’s Leadership Washington, Jay Inslee, and legislative leaders, as well as the advocates, survivors, and elected officials who fought for years to make this happen.”
According to a report published last year, Firearms are the number one killer of children and teenagers in the USalready ahead of car crashes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In the report, which collected data for 2020, concludes that 45,222 Americans died from firearms this yearabout 4,300 children under the age of 19, representing an annual increase of 29.5 percent, more than double the relative increase in the general population, according to a study by University of Michigan researchers based on data from the CDC.
In 2020, about 3,900 children and teenagers died in car accidents. drug overdose deaths increased by more than 83 percentto over 1,700 deaths in total to become the third leading cause of death in this group, according to a paper compiled by the network ABC.
The reason for the increase in gun deaths in the United States is largely due to gun-related homicides, which registered an increase of 33.4 percent from 2019 to 2020.. Similarly, firearm-related suicides increased by 1.1 percent over this period.
