OpenAI gives ChatGPT users more options to manage their chat history. A version for business use will soon be available from the AI ​​tool.

In a short blog, OpenAI announces new options for managing chat history in ChatGPT. They come after a bug in March accidentally revealed chat data to other users. A mistake that could cost OpenAI dearly, because this is one of the reasons why the chat tool has come under fire in Europe. From now on, users can choose whether their conversations are saved.

Previously, your previous conversations were always displayed in the left bar and you had to delete them manually. OpenAI uses this data to train the GPT model. Now if you click on your account and then on settings you will see a new menu data settings appear.

You can use the slider to choose whether or not to save the chat history. Conversations that you don’t want to save aren’t used to train the models either. OpenAI retains them for internal moderation for 30 days if necessary.

This option can be useful for companies that want to give employees access to ChatGPT. You can also export your ChatGPT conversations from the data management menu. You will then be emailed a link to an HTML file and JSON files that you can download to your device.

ChatGPT business

OpenAI also announces the launch of ChatGPT Business, a version intended for business use. It will be available soon and, according to the company, will have even more ways to manage data. With this, OpenAI may want to reassure companies that want to give employees access to the chatbot but fear that they will pass on secret company information. OpenAI isn’t sharing many details about these additional privacy options, additional features, or subscription pricing just yet.

Whether these adjustments will be enough to sweep all privacy concerns off the table is rather doubtful. OpenAI has received an ultimatum from Italy with steps it must take to be able to offer the chatbot in the country. The Italian authorities’ wish list includes the option of having information about him deleted. OpenAI is not talking about that yet.
