The Mavic 3 Pro is a new model of what is considered the best drone on the consumer market. After three versions of this Series 3, DJI decided to improve the camera system and the results are spectacular.
The main novelty of the Mavic 3 Pro is its set of three cameras, the first consumer drone to use it. It uses the same Hasselblad L2D-20C camera with 4/3 CMOS and 24mm sensor as the regular Magic 3 and 1/2″ with 7x optical zoom and 166mm focal length, but now adds a 1/1.3″ optical zoom camera. 3x and a focal length of 70 mm. This “medium” telephoto lens allows you to shoot the space between the other two lenses, giving you more speed and flexibility when composing photos or videos.
With this set of cameras, the drone can capture video with a resolution of up to 5.1K@50fps and DCI 4K@120fps. You can also record up to 4K at 60fps, and when it comes to photos, you can capture 12-bit RAW with native dynamic range of up to 12.8EV. The cameras of this drone support Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422 and Apple ProRes 422 LT encoding, and to save footage, it connects 1TB SSD.
Otherwise, it’s basically the Mavic 3. It has a maximum flight time (no wind) of 43 minutes (down 3 minutes) and a maximum hover time (no wind) of 40 minutes. His the maximum rate of climb is maintained at 6 m/s (mode P). 8 m/s (“S” high power mode) and a maximum descent speed of 6 m/s (P mode). Near sea level, with no wind, this drone can reach a truly impressive top speed 21 m/s.
It also retains DJI’s popular ActiveTrack 5.0 technology to increase tracking capabilities using signals from GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou satellites to improve performance. Mavic 3 is equipped with omnidirectional obstacle sensors with a range of 200 meters along with APAS 5.0 and is capable of safer navigation through obstacles in the surrounding environment. The DJI Mavic 3 uses the AirSense system to alert the user to aerial traffic such as helicopters and airplanes.
Equipped with its own 5.5-inch touchscreen that avoids the need to use any smartphone controls, the DJI RC PRO runs on a DJI-customized version of Android. It features OcuSync 3.0 (1080p@60fps) image transfer technology capable of running at a truly impressive length 15 km. Internet connectivity with this controller works via Wi-Fi or a special 4G LTE dongle. This controller also has the ability to connect to other devices via Bluetooth and has a battery life of approximately 3 hours before needing to be recharged.
In short: the best consumer drone, now with fewer cameras. Of course, its price is high. The Mavic 3 Pro is for sale on the DJI website from 2,099 euros. And from there up with the manufacturer’s package and fully equipped it reaches 4,599 euros. If you’re on a budget and want to get started in the world of drones, we recommend the Mini 3 Pro as a direct successor to the DJI Mini 2, which we thoroughly reviewed and had a great experience with.
