A group of doctors, scientists and researchers from the UK have created an algorithm based on artificial intelligence that can accurately detect cancer.
As reported by Ukrinform, The Guardian reports this.
From the Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Dr. “In the future, we hope this will improve early detection and potentially make cancer treatment more successful by identifying high-risk patients and accelerating early intervention,” said Benjamin Hunter. Marsden
The team used CT scans of nearly 500 patients with large lung nodules to develop an AI-based algorithm using radiomics. This technology can extract important information from medical images that are difficult for the human eye to see.
The AI model was then tested to determine if it could accurately identify cancerous nodules.
“Based on preliminary results, our model accurately identifies large cancerous nodules in the lungs,” Hunter said.
As Ukrinform reports, a group of American researchers has developed a deep learning model based on artificial intelligence (AI) that can predict the risk of death from a heart attack or stroke over a 10-year period based solely on a chest X-ray.
