Businesses in the service sector can now bill their customers for online appointments directly from Microsoft Teams.

The Verge announces that Microsoft Teams is working on a system to arrange payments during meetings. Microsoft uses partners such as PayPal, Stripe and GoDaddy for this. The new feature is primarily aimed at the self-employed or companies in the service sector: think of tax consultants, lawyers or teachers. Professions that have also switched to online services since the Corona pandemic.

Pay at meetings

If customers book an online consultation, the invoice no longer has to be sent afterwards. Customers can now pay for the service provided at any time during the meeting. A payment request is created and shared in the chat window, and the host can track who has already paid in group conversations.

Businesses in the United States and Canada can install the paid app today through Microsoft AppSource. Since the application is still in preview, Microsoft is still rolling out the payment platform to a limited extent for the time being. It is not yet clear if and when the feature will be available for Belgian users. The application is free if the user already has a business subscription.
