All services from all cloud providers, available on one platform: With ArrowSphere, distributor Arrow wants to bring a unique solution to the market. With the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle is already ready to offer customers new possibilities via the portal.
“With the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, OCI for short, Oracle is officially a hyperscaler according to Gartner,” says Jan Ronse, Managing Director of Oracle Belux. OCI offers a mature cloud infrastructure, which of course contains Oracle’s strengths in the database world, but is much more.
More than databases
Ronse emphasizes that OCI is a complete solution. “Security is built in from the start,” he says. “OCI offers computing power, storage, database and analytics at a very attractive price.” With this offering, Oracle aims to win the hearts and workloads of companies across the country. However, the company recognizes that the OCI needs to evolve as an open platform to maximize impact.
“We are an important player in the cloud market,” says Ronse. “But we firmly believe in multicloud. We respect that a customer runs one workload with one provider and the others with us. We therefore offer the opportunity to integrate OCI with other cloud infrastructures.” In other words, Oracle not only targets organizations that have not yet started their journey to the cloud, but also wants to develop projects for customers who already have workloads perform on their competing peers.
projects and partners
After all, projects are the focus today. Ronse: “We used to work more transactionally, but that’s not how it works in the cloud. Projects are the focus there. We achieve this together with the customer and our partners.” These partners are essential in the story as they have strong ties with the end customer, especially in Belgium and Luxembourg. In other words, the partner plays an important role when a multicloud project comes about.
We are therefore not surprised when Pierre Furnal, Country Manager Arrow Belux, enters the Oracle office in Brussels. “Arrow plays an important role in bringing innovation to the channel,” explains Furnal. “We help a community of 3,000 partners to bring modern IT solutions to the end customer.” OCI plays an important role in this. “We believe in OCI’s ability to modernize IT and provide cloud services to customers.”
Portal for the multicloud
Together, the two parties are trying to make the multicloud history accessible. Arrow has its own product in its range for this purpose: ArrowSphere. Simply put, this is a sort of marketplace where a partner can find cloud services from all major players, including OCI, in a vendor-agnostic context. Furnal: “ArrowSphere contains an extensive catalog of cloud solutions from many different providers. Partners can select and roll out the right service with one click.”
In concrete terms, this means that partners can select the right cloud service that best suits a customer via a central point without having to remain in a specific ecosystem. For example, we hear an example from an end customer who wanted to migrate Oracle databases to the cloud but was already largely on Microsoft Azure. “Through ArrowSphere, the partner was able to quickly and easily migrate this customer’s databases to the cloud using Oracle Database for Azure,” said Furnal.
Worry-free integration
Of course, this is only possible because Oracle has developed solutions within OCI that, among other things, enable integration with Azure. OCI takes a very open approach with direct connections to Azure. Integration with AWS is also improving.
The result is a collaboration where Arrow, through ArrowSphere, offers a tool that enables partners to bring a multi-cloud strategy to the end customer. In this way, the customer gets the best possible solution to their problem without being tied to a cloud provider. The entire project remains clear for the partner, so that the Multicloud offer is added value and not a headache.
