The main suspect in the shooting in Texas (USA), which claimed the lives of five Hondurans over the weekend, Francisco Oropesa was arrested on Tuesday by authorities in the Texas city of Cut and Shoot, NBC reports.
The publication, citing San Jacinto County District Attorney (Texas) Todd Dillon, explained that authorities are waiting for confirmation of the identity of a man who has been charged with first-degree murder and is already in prison.
CNN and Fox News confirmed the news. Fox said the suspect was arrested by border guards “without incident.” There was a $100,000 reward for his capture.
Oropesa is a 38-year-old Mexican citizen.
Friday night I was firing his semi-automatic rifle in the garden of his house in the Texas city of Cleveland, when one of his neighbors approached him and asked him to stop making noise, because it was very late and the family, including several children, could not sleep.
In response, the man burst into neighbors house to shoot them in the neck and headas if it were an “execution”, according to the police report.
There were 10 people in the house, five died. Names of victims: Daniel Enrique Lazo, 9; Sonya Argentina Guzman, 25; Diana Velasquez Alvarado, 21; Obdulia Molina Rivera, 31, and José Jonathan Caceres, 18.
Diana Velasquez had a permanent residence in the United States, the rest were in the country irregularly.
Oropes has been deported to Mexico at least four times since 2009, according to US authorities.
