The Crucial T700 will be the next PCIe Gen 5 SSD to ship. As we’ve seen with the few units of this type that have arrived so far, its price won’t be as cheap as the current Gen4.

The new generation of SSDs is slowly getting started, and we can only hope that the solutions from the big storage manufacturers (WD, Samsung, Kingston, Kioxia…) will not be long in coming. At this moment, integrators such as GIGABYTE, Crucial or ADATA have already announced their versions.

The Crucial T700 will be next. use the format M.2-2280 which becomes the main and almost unique SSD due to its great advantages thanks to its compact dimensions that allow its installation on desktop computers and laptops. use memories Micron TLC 232-layer NAND along with a driver we’ve already seen in the Gen5s, the Phison E26.

It has support for the latest version of the NVMe protocol, which makes them bootable and promises data transfer 12,400 MB per second in sequential reading and 11,800 Mbytes per second in writing. They have an endurance of up to 2400 TBW (written in terabytes) and the brand grants five-year warranty. It will be sold in versions without and with a cooler. You already know these units are pretty hot.

Crucial T700, versions and prices

The integrator announced the launch on May 30 with availability on its website and we assume in the international retail channel. If Crucial is usually one of the cheapest Gen4 SSD manufacturers, for its Gen5 debut prices are going up a lot:

  • 4TB – $599.99 ($629.99 with cooler)
  • 2TB – $339.99 (with cooler $369.99)
  • 1TB – $179.99 (with cooler $209.99)
