The US government has determined Mauricio Garcia, 33for example, the mall shooting that killed eight people and injured seven in Dallas.
The shooter was recognized as a supporter of neo-Nazis. He was killed by a police officer who was in the area.
The attacker had multiple social media accounts and appeared to be attracted to white supremacist content.
Mauricio Garcia had a patch on his chest with a picture of initials of alleged Nazi groupbut officials stressed that it was too early to conclude that this was the cause of the attack.
The media reported that the initials were RVDSwhich corresponds to the “Right Wing Death Squad”.
Investigators are also looking into possible links he may have with prisoner gangs and cartel members, CBS reports.
This Saturday, Garcia opened fire on several people in a shopping center in the small suburb of Allen, after which he was shot dead by a police officer. As a result of the attack, he killed eight people and injured seven more, including minors.
US Vice President Kamala Harris said the Biden administration “will continue to support federal, state and local law enforcement in their investigations.”
“Yesterday, Allen, Texas was rocked by a senseless mass shooting at a mall, one of too many communities affected by gun violence,” Harris said, according to a White House statement.
Harris lamented that practical steps were not being taken, despite the fact that the decisions are known and the American people will support them without disagreement, he said.
Hours earlier, US President Joe Biden had ordered the nation’s flags to be flown at half mast on May 11 in memory of those killed in the shooting.
Biden recalled that the attacker, dressed in tactical clothing and armed with an AR-15 rifle, fired at “innocent people” in the mall. “This attack is too shocking to be so familiar, and yet there have already been nearly 200 shootings in American communities this year,” the president said.
