An iPhone with a microLED display is reportedly on Apple’s roadmap

Apple plans to launch an iPhone with a microLED display in the future, according to a report released today. DigiTimes about the supply network. This display technology will provide higher brightness, lower power consumption, improved contrast ratio and other advantages over existing iPhones with OLED displays.

A paid report claims that the Apple Watch Ultra will be the first Apple device to switch to microLED, followed by the iPhone and iPad:

Starting with the Apple Watch, Apple plans to further introduce the microLED display to the iPhone and iPad. Some IT industry sources predict that the Apple Watch Ultra will no longer use the current OLED display until late 2024 or 2025, as it will be replaced by an Apple-developed microLED display.

Since the Apple Watch Ultra is not expected to use microLED until 2025 at the earliest, it will likely be several years before the first iPhone to adopt the technology is released. All four iPhone 15 models coming this year are expected to feature OLED displays.

Meanwhile, Apple continues to complete the transition to OLED displays. Apple’s first device with an OLED display was the original Apple Watch, followed by the iPhone X, and the first iPad and Mac models with OLED displays are said to arrive next year. The move to microLED will likely follow a similar path from smaller devices to larger ones.
