GIGABYTE BRIX is a line of compact PCs from the Taiwanese manufacturer and has been around as long as Intel NUCs, which set the pace in this type of desktop PC, the only one that continues to grow due to the decline in OEM sales. towers.
The manufacturer offers four versions depending on the Intel Raptor Lake processor used. All are from the ‘U’ range for notebooks, common in mini-PCs due to their low power consumption, which in this case is 15 watts. Versions range from the BRi3H (Core i7-1315U) to the BRi7H, which mounts Core i7-1355U with 10 cores (2 performance) at a turbo frequency of 5 GHz and with integrated Intel Iris Xe 1.3 GHz graphics.
They can install up to 32 GB of RAM on two DDR4 3200 MHz modules. For storage, it has an M.2 connector for PCIe SSD and a 2.5″ slot for increasing capacity with hard drives or SATA SSD.
GIGABYTE took the opportunity to update the physical design of their mini-PCs to improve cooling, but keep the dimensions contained in the square design at just 11cm. They can be installed anywhere on a desk, on walls or behind monitors using a VESA mount. Its use cases are also wide ranging from office to consumer to education sector.
Its connectivity is very complete, with 2.5 GbE Ethernet LAN for wired network connectivity and Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. It has two HDMI 2.0 video outputs and two additional Display Port 1.4a outputs to allow content to be streamed to up to four monitors simultaneously. Missing are a large number of connection ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C with DP Alt mode and two additional USB 2.0 Type A spread between the front and back.
The new GIGABYTE BRIX will soon be available on the manufacturer’s website and in the retail channel. Built configurations will pre-install Windows 11, although we expect barebones to be available as well, so the customer can choose their preferred system, as well as the memory and storage they prefer to install.
