Channel 24 has gathered in one article eight Google projects that should be expected in the future. Some are legacy services of the company, others are completely new, and some are often implemented in collaboration with other companies.

First of all, let’s talk briefly about Bard AI, the chatbot that Google hastily launched before it’s finished. The most important thing you need to know now:

• Bard has been upgraded to a new version of the PaLM 2 language model that should fix many bugs and make the system more powerful. In addition, PaLM 2 introduces new skills in coding, logic and mathematics – with the latter, for example, ChatGPT has big problems.
• Bard is now available for free in 180 countries with no waiting list. Users from Ukraine can also take the test.
• Many new features and functions will be revealed in the coming days and weeks. For example, visual answers to queries (now you can get answers not only with text but also with images), entering queries with images rather than just text (using Google Lens capabilities here).
• Added new languages, including Japanese and Korean.

MusicLM: creating music from textual description

Initially, Google said it had no plans to roll out MusicLM to the public due to ethical copyright concerns (the system copied parts of the songs to the tracks it created), but this has changed dramatically this year, and now Google feels comfortable enough to let the public use it. Try MusicLM.

At this stage of the test, the experimental AI creates two pieces and you can choose your favorite by selecting the trophy icon. Google recommends trying suggestions based on mood, genre, and instruments. However, the system does not allow you to create music by emulating certain artists or vocals.

Generative Artificial Intelligence on Google Play

The use of artificial intelligence in Google’s mobile app store Play Market seems a bit dubious and mostly of interest to developers. For the average user, the company offers brief reviews of applications based on AI.

Tailwind Project

Google showed off a test version of a personal notebook with artificial intelligence aimed at helping students.

As you can see, Project Tailwind is designed to help students organize their grades. A company representative described it as “your first notebook with AI.” The toolkit can extract information from a personal set of notes, make it searchable, suggest questions and main topics, and organize the topic in an interactive way.

After choosing a topic (computer science history) and taking a few paragraphs of notes from Google Drive, the developer asked Project Tailwind. summarize content, create a custom dictionary, present a quiz or training from this information, among other actions. Tailwind illustrates its work in progress with footnotes and quotations taken directly from the document.

Project Tailwind is currently experimental and available in the US only. The Tailwind project’s potential audience is broader than students, but Google’s primary focus is developing notes specifically for them.

Image search

Google is adding a few new features to its image search feature to make it easier to spot modified content.

Photos shown in search results will soon include an “About this image” option to let users know when this image and similar images were first indexed by Google. You’ll also be able to find out where it may have first appeared and see other places it was posted on the Internet. According to Google, this information can help users determine whether what they see was created by artificial intelligence.

If you click on the three dots on an image in Google Image search results, the new feature will appear.

Google hasn’t said exactly when the new feature will be available, other than when it will launch first in the United States “in the coming months.”

Google Photos

The company offered an “experimental” Magic Editor tool in Google Photos. Not only do you fix photos, but you completely change photos to create exactly the shot you want from the start.. You can move and resize objects, stretch objects, remove an unwanted element, and even replace a cloudy sky with a sunnier version.

Magic Editor will be available in an early release for “select” Pixel phones later this year.

Duet AI

The next development concerns the Google Workspace app ecosystem. Like Microsoft Copilot for Office applications, Duet AI; Google Keep is a general term for an expanded list of artificial intelligence features in applications such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Meet, Gmail, and more.

• First, Gmail will now create full replies to your emails based on prompts in the new Help Me Write feature.
• In addition, the Gmail mobile app will soon add context-sensitive help, “allowing you to create professional replies that automatically fill in names and other relevant information.”
• Duet AI also appears in Google Slides. Here it takes the form of rendering images for your presentations. Like Midjourney or the DALL-E 2, Duet AI can now convert simple text prompts (typed in the sidebar) into AI-generated images to add more to a presentation. This can help you save time and add originality to your slides when searching for the right image for your slides.
• Duet AI understands the context of data in cells in Google Sheets and labels them accordingly. The spreadsheet app also adds a new “help me organize” feature for you to create your own plans: explain in simple language what you want to do and Duet AI will outline the strategies and steps to achieve that goal. “Whether you’re an events team planning an annual sales conference or a manager coordinating a field trip team, Duet AI helps you create organized plans with tools to get you started”– company notes.
• In Google Meet, AI can generate its own background images for video calls based on a text prompt.
• Duet also adds “typing aid” to Google Docs. If you enter a prompt describing what you want to write about, an outline is created in Docs. This feature also works in Docs’ “smart widgets” (auto hints and information about things like documents and people mentioned in a project).
• Additionally, Google is updating its built-in Grammarly-style Docs tools. The new panel will offer advice on concise writing, avoidance of repetition, and improving style. The company adds that you can easily turn this feature off if you don’t want it to learn grammar.
• Duet AI can also help you code in real time.

Adobe’s Firefly AI is integrated into Bard AI

In March, Adobe announced that it has created its own renderer that can be used across a range of products including Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and more. The development is designed to eliminate much of the routine work associated with creating and editing photo and video materials.

On Wednesday, Adobe and Google jointly announced that the Firefly and Express graphics suite will soon be integrated into Bard, allowing users to create, edit and share images with artificial intelligence directly from the chatbot’s command line.

According to the company’s press release, users will be able to create an image using Firefly, then edit and modify it using Adobe Express resources, fonts, and templates directly on the Bard platform, and then share the result on social networks.

The images produced will reportedly be of the same high quality that Firefly beta users are already accustomed to, as they are all created from the same Adobe Stock image database, openly licensed content, and public domain content. So Adobe doesn’t steal the works of artists to teach Firefly.
