The SPATIUM M480 PRO is the latest SSD that MSI has added to its storage lineup. You already know that most of the big PC manufacturers (ASUS, GIGA, HP…) have been encouraged to launch their own solutions and MSI has a good catalog of SSDs for any task.

The SPATIUM M480 PRO comes to boost drives connected to PCIe 4.0, the currently dominant interface until Gen5 makes a massive appearance. It seems that there is no hurry and the giants (WD, Samsung, Kingston…) have postponed the launches. Gen5 only really uses its capabilities on the latest Intel and AMD platforms, and apparently they are still in the minority. Anyway, let’s say MSI has a SPATIUM M570 Gen5 model.

Coming to the point, the new MSI SSDs are offered in format M.2 2280, the compact form factor leading consumer storage. These include high-density 3D NAND memories, a Phison E18 controller, DRAM cache and SLC cache, of which no specific quantity was mentioned, and NVMe 1.4 protocol support.

These drives are capable of reaching almost the interface limit in performance, with sequential read speeds of up to 7400MB read and 7000MB/s write. All SPATIUM products support a wide range of data error correction features, including LPDC ECC and E2E Data Protection, providing high TBW (Terabytes Written) for increased durability and longevity.

The manufacturer provides additional support through a software solution integrated into MSI Center, which monitors the state of the disk, used capacity, operating temperature or allows you to update its firmware. In addition, MSI has entered into a partnership with Actiphy, as data backup solutions to allow users who purchase and install one of their SSDs to store and transfer their files.

MSI sells the SPATIUM M480 PRO with three storage capacities: 1, 2 and 4 TByte. and with a limited warranty 5 years.
