A vulnerability found only in Apple processors

At the end of 2020, Apple introduced the company’s first computers based on the Apple M1 processor. Since then, this line of chips has only been mentioned in a positive light.

But, as it turned out, the company’s own development has its drawbacks. For example, an international research team found security vulnerabilities in the processors of Cupertino Corporation. And this vulnerability is associated with the potential for user data to be stolen.

The vulnerability in line M1 is based on the Data Memory Dependent Prefetcher (DMP) presampling mechanism. It also applies to the A14 mobile processor. However, experts noted that the vulnerability, called Augury, is unique, at least in that it is only found in Apple chips.

It will be remembered that in early November 2021, Intel representatives also advised their users to update the BIOS firmware. Then the IT giant discovered three new vulnerabilities in its processors.
