This was reported to Ukrinform by the company’s press service.
As noted, the announcement of the agreement has only now been made public, given the risks of the information agenda in the context of military aggression.
GEOSAT 2 became the first satellite to transmit operational observation data on the territory of Ukraine for use only by our country. The satellite is in orbit and allows receiving ultra-high resolution data previously inaccessible to Ukraine. It also provides the opportunity to take photos from a distance of 100 kilometers from the state borders of Ukraine. The Ukrainian satellite Sich-2-30, launched into orbit in January 2022, has many times lower resolution.
The strategic partnership between EOS and GEOSAT 2 strengthens Ukraine’s space intelligence capacity and helps improve the effectiveness of the country’s defense, as well as improve data collection on the damage caused by Russian military aggression to the population and economy, forestry and other industries,” the company said.
The report states that access to GEOSAT 2 will be beneficial for all sectors of the Ukrainian economy that use satellite analytics in their operations in the long run. Access to satellite data is particularly important for operational military intelligence.
The GEOSAT 2 system provides high-quality and cost-effective services to customers all over the world. The satellite moves in a sun-synchronous orbit at an average altitude of 620 km.
