Two-faced beetle: the Brazilian adapted the car and created a beetle that even reverses going forward

An anonymous collector from Balneario Camboriu in Santa Catarina commissioned an unusual beetle: two-faced beetleas it was called. The modified car was based on a 1974 Beetle body and features two fronts. The car was built in a workshop in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais.

The Beetle Two-Face has a fake front end that is actually the rear of the car, and even a fake gearbox and steering wheel to confuse anyone who sees it on the street. Built in the Wiermann Garage workshop, which specializes in transforming Beetles and Kombis, David Junior Wiermann, 42, and his father José de Almeida Wiermann, 72, were responsible for creating the “Beetle that only moves forward.”

The car reproduces the rear, the entire front almost symmetrically. “Our client saw a similar machine in Brazil and placed an order with us. My father was in charge of the entire project,” David said.

Like the factory Beetle models, the engine and shift lever are located at the rear of the car. In this case, false preemption. The headlights at the rear were equipped with red bulbs, which took over the function of the rear lights. “The car drives fine on one side, but everything on the other side of the cab is fake.” The biggest adaptation challenge was resizing the chassis to create symmetry between the two front ends of the car. To do this, the vehicle had to be increased by about 90 cm.

The accelerator, handbrake and clutch cables, in addition to the shift rod and brake lines, also had to be lengthened,” David said.

According to Wiermann mechanics, the Beetle maintains normal handling of the car. However, after the modifications, the car has not changed the relevant documentation, which is necessary in order for the car to be able to move on public roads, since this is a modification intended for the exhibition.

As such, the chances of you seeing a Beetle circulating the streets of your city is slim, unless the anonymous owner decides to change the documentation to go around, causing weirdness and fear wherever you go.
