Representatives of the Avtotor plant and BAIC have signed an agreement on further plans for cooperation in strategic development areas. Moreover, they concern not only the existing project – that is, the production of Chinese cars at the facilities of the Kaliningrad enterprise – but also completely new ones.

In particular, and most curiously, within the framework of the agreements reached, the parties will jointly make cars with electric, hybrid and gas power plants. In addition, they jointly organize the production of auto parts – of course, at the Avtotor site.

In the meantime, the localization program in the designated areas is being developed, Avtotor and BAIC are implementing the previously approved plan – to switch to full-cycle car production (with welding and painting). Recall that two models are currently produced in Kaliningrad – the X35 crossover and the U5 Plus sedan. But before the end of this year, five more should be on the assembly line.

It should be remembered that Kaliningraders recently signed another cooperation agreement with their Chinese comrades. Their next partner was Shanhai Nuoang Automobile Technology Co. This project will create several enterprises in the region for the production of auto parts for both traditional cars and electric vehicles.
