Ferrari has finally shed light on the technical equipment of its first Purosangue crossover. The iconic naturally aspirated V12 has been confirmed for the model, characterized as “an integral part of Ferrari’s DNA.”

The press service of the brand from Maranello confirmed only indirectly, recalling that the V12 will get “a new model that changes the rules of the game.” Later, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna clarified in a dialogue with Reuters that it was the Purosangue.

Viña noted that the engineers conducted a series of tests on the Purosangue prototype with different engines and were convinced that the V12 would be the “right option”. What will be the return of the twelve-cylinder engine on the crossover is not yet clear. It is rumored to top 830 horsepower, making the Purosangue one of the most powerful SUVs on the market.

In addition to the V12, the range of new items may include a hybrid power plant based on a three-liter twin-turbo V6 from 296 GTB, or with a V8 of 3.9 or four liters. The crossover is also tipped to be an all-electric installation, but it is expected that such an option will not see the light of day until 2024.

The debut of the Ferrari Purosangue (“purebred” in Italian) will take place in the coming months, and production will begin by the end of the year. The coupe-shaped crossover, whose appearance has already been declassified, will be assembled in a limited amount, like the brand’s supercar.
