According to the study of the information project “Insurance: Public Expertise”, every fourth motorist admitted to having encountered a set-up on the road at least once. And unfortunately, scammers do not stand still and come up with something new every day in this criminal genre. So, quite recently, a group of scammers staged a series of accidents using motorcycles. The criminal plan functioned successfully for a long time, until the insurers realized that something was wrong.
When it comes to traditional methods of auto-tuning, the majority of drivers surveyed (76%) noted that the most favored deception scheme is abrupt braking of the vehicle in front. Just under half of the respondents remember a rigged blow from a blind spot on a roundabout (48%) and an imitation of a collision with a pedestrian (47%).
However, time does not stand still and scammers find new ways to deceive. For example, a group of scammers successfully staged a motorcycle accident. But the insurers discovered the criminal scheme and promptly turned to law enforcement. To date, the perpetrators have already been convicted.
So how did the criminal scheme work?
A Muscovite contacted the insurance company with an accident-damaged motorcycle. The man demanded compensation of two million rubles. However, interesting details surfaced during the verification process. In particular, it became apparent that this particular bike had been the victim of an accident more than once and that it belonged to a completely different person who had several of the exact same vehicles. Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the damage indicated in the statement could not be obtained during the last accident.
Some of the “crippled” parts are believed to have been transferred from identical motorcycles. During the day
The investigation also found that the motorcycle crimes included more than 10 people who used six motorcycles for theirs. In addition, a number of insurers with an identical history have recently applied for a payment. At the same time, both the equipment and the motorcycles had the exact same damage and went through the previously announced events.
