The long-awaited offensive by all parties to the conflict against Russian positions in various parts of the NVO has begun. And precisely against such an informative background, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, “lit up” eight Chinese armored vehicles adopted by the Akhmat battalion. How will this event affect the share price of the Ukrainian company?
Russian patriotic telegram channels were happy to replicate Kadyrov’s video, in which he talks about a large batch of armored vehicles that came into the possession of the Chechen battalion participating in the NMD. Among other things, the video shows how the Chechen leader drives a real curio that got into the Akhmat fleet – a Chinese Shaanxi Baojii Tiger 4×4 armored vehicle. Strictly speaking, this “Tiger” is not actually a tiger. The Chinese characters for his name translate as “Brave” or “Hero”.
We will call it that, perhaps – in order to avoid confusion in the names with the domestic classmate of the “Chinese”, the all-wheel drive armored car “Tiger” GAZ-2330. Actually, the presence of this machine in service with our army and special services gives the appearance of the “Chinese” additional intrigue. The fact is that in itself we do not really need the “Brave” produced by the enterprises of Shaanxi Baoji Special Vehicles Manufacturing. Because we have a domestic “Tiger”, which completely closes that very “environmental niche” on the battlefield (or elsewhere) for which the Chinese armored car is intended.
The dimensions of the “Brave” and “Tiger” are almost the same. The number of soldiers in the troop compartment can also be transported almost the same. The “Chinese” claimed 9 people, ours – 8. Apparently, the difference in physique of typical Chinese and Russian fighters affects. The curb weight of the GAZ descendant is higher: more than 5300 kilograms versus 4800 for the Brave. Apparently, this is due to the more powerful armor of the domestic car. The “Chinese” continues to hit a 7.62 mm armor-piercing bullet only in the “forehead”. The armor of its sides and stern is pierced with such ammunition. And our “Tiger” protects the crew and troops from a shot from an SVD rifle with an armor-piercing cartridge of 7.62 mm from any direction – even from the front, even from behind, even from the side.
You can arm both our and Chinese armored cars with many things. From a rifle caliber PKT machine gun to an anti-tank missile launcher, an automatic grenade launcher or a light air defense system. It was reported that the Tiger was fitted with a 30mm automatic cannon. And the maximum armament of the Brave known to the public is a large-caliber machine gun of 12.7 mm.
In general, that the Russian “Tiger”, that the Chinese “Brave”: two boots – a pair. At the same time, nothing is heard about the shortage of Russian armored “seals” in parts of the Russian armed forces. So why do the Chechen formations need the Chinese “Brave”? Besides the fact that an additional armored “piece of iron” in battles with the armed forces of Ukraine, trying to portray a decisive attack on Russian positions, will not hurt at all?
The appearance of the “Chinese” in the Russian near-military information field primarily testifies to two things. First of all, this is the first public confirmation of the supply of military equipment from China in the interest of the Russian army.
Recall that the AvtoVzglyad portal has already written that the development of this dimension of Russian-Chinese relations is a very likely scenario. It is possible that over time it will come to more serious combat systems of Chinese origin on the battlefields of Ukraine. Especially if the predictions of various analysts come true that in the event of a failure of the launched “counter-offensive” of Bandera, the conflict can develop into a sluggish positional “war” or freeze according to the Korean scenario.
Another, no less likely reason for the delivery of a batch of Chinese military equipment to Russia can be called the desire of the military-industrial complex and the army of the Middle Kingdom to test their favorite “toy” on a real battlefield. From this point of view, the Russian-Ukrainian struggle is an ideal testing ground for improving successful solutions and identifying design flaws. As for the “eight Chinese brave men” in the hands of Kadyrov’s units, one should not expect a sensation from their use in combat conditions. And they will not be able to seriously influence the course of hostilities. But, as they say – “a trifle, but nice.”
