AVTOVAZ Chairman Maxim Sokolov spoke about the timing of the return of the anti-lock braking system to the budget model LADA Granta.
– On Vesta in the basic version, ABS has been installed practically since the launch of the conveyor. As for Granta, we plan to equip it with this system already this summer,” Mr. Sokolov said at the Eurasia is Our Home exhibition.
Recall that with the departure of a large number of companies supplying auto parts from Russia, AVTOVAZ faced a serious shortage of ABS and ESP systems. For this reason, since last year, LADA Granta and Niva began to roll off the assembly line in a configuration without electronic brake assist systems – the government allowed the production of such cars in connection with the current sanctions situation. However, already in 2023, ABS will again become an equipment, without which it will be impossible to sell a new car on the Russian market.
It is possible that a Russian-made anti-lock braking system will be installed on the LADA Granta. A few days ago, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Vasily Shpak announced that Itelma will begin serial production of ABS from July 1, 2023. Apparently, it is this domestic development that goes to Togliatti cars.
