A more serious option is also possible when the thermostat is stuck. To make sure of this, you need to drive to the side of the road, open the hood and feel the cooling system pipes of the large and small circles of antifreeze circulation. Are any of them cold? Then the thermostat must be replaced. However, everything is simple if the driver is knowledgeable and can repair the car himself.
Otherwise, you must reach the nearest service. That is, it is important to quickly lower the temperature of the “cooler”. The easiest way to do this is to turn off the air conditioning to reduce the load on the engine. And then turn on the “stove” fan at maximum speed. This causes the cabin to become very hot. Nothing, because the windows can be lowered. So it is quite realistic that the “iron horse” will get to the place of repair without any problems.
Another way to cool the antifreeze is to forcibly remove the temperature sensor connector. This will keep the fan running constantly. If the system is tight, you certainly don’t have to worry about the engine overheating. But there is a nuance here. The “cooler” cannot function indefinitely: it breaks down. The device must be allowed to rest. Therefore, during a long journey, you should occasionally stop and let the car cool down.
After such a short stop, however, you can safely maintain 60-80 km/h. After all, at speed the airflow is more efficient, both the water pump and the oil pump work better. That is, the lubricant cools faster, which contributes to the temperature stabilization of the engine.
