In mid-June, unmanned trucks will drive on the M11

The start date for testing unmanned trucks on the M11 Neva highway has been announced. There will certainly be more traffic jams from now on, because now ordinary motorists share the roadway with robots. They will operate KamAZ vehicles and later other manufacturers will join.

We already wrote about the plans of Avtodor, which was going to conduct an experiment with innovative heavy trucks on the Neva. Then the officials did not name the exact date, but today it has become known. According to TASS, the first large-tonnage vehicles will depart from St. Petersburg for Moscow on June 14.

The project involves the largest carriers: PEK, Globaltruck, Gazpromneft-Snabzhenie.

Only those drones that meet the safety requirements of FSUE NAMI and for which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has registered that the vehicle is classified as unmanned are allowed to operate on the M11. Today, only KamAZ (model 54901) has passed all such procedures. Soon Sberavtotech will join them. Its “autopilots” have already received certificates from the US.

Unfortunately, ordinary mates can suffer from this. There will be more congestion. A wave of accidents cannot be ruled out, as our people have not yet experienced interaction on the road with an electronic mind.
