This innovative option allows drivers and passengers to negotiate fares on the platform in advance. The feature is currently available in 196 municipalities of varying sizes, and is expected to roll out to 36 additional cities by mid-June. It’s worth noting that current modalities like 99Pop are still available to users.

In the 99Negocia modality, trading starts from a value pre-set by the platform. The passenger has the opportunity to accept, reduce or increase the offered price. Then, if necessary, the driver can also make a counteroffer. If no agreement is reached, the passenger may request another free vehicle. “The idea is that the negotiation process is going fast“, says Leonardo Japour, director of strategy and new categories at 99.
With the launch of 99Negocia, the goal is to offer users more flexibility, explains Japour. From the passenger’s point of view, this new option serves, for example, those who are willing to pay a higher price to get a car faster. “Despite the company’s efforts to invest in technology to offer fair prices, there are always passengers who are more sensitive to prices or waiting times.” adds Japour.

According to the company, this option will be available “in the coming days” also in Divinopolis (MG), Crisium (South Carolina), Londrin (PR) and Limeira (SP).
The flexibility provided by 99Negocia also benefits drivers, Japour says. Professionals will have access to destination information and passenger rating, however trips contracted through 99Negocia do not allow re-routing or detours during the trip.
With the introduction of 99Negocia, 99 aims to stand out in the highly competitive transportation application market and meet the specific requirements of users. The company expects this new category to be well received by passengers who need more flexibility when negotiating prices and by drivers who want to reduce the time between trips.
