Voltage between China and Taiwan This is a sensitive issue, since relations between the mainland and the island have experienced several moments of tension since the late 1940s.
The story goes back to the 17th century, when the island of Formosa belonged to China – the former name of the island that later became Taiwan. In 1895, Japan took control of the island and only regained the territory in 1945, at the end of World War II.
Shortly after this period, civil war broke out in China. On the one hand, the forces of the Nationalist government in the person of Chiang Kai-shek, on the other, the Communist Party led by Mao Zedong. With the victory of the communists, the leader of the nationalists took refuge on the already inhabited island of Formosa. With the new name, Taiwan became self-governed in 1949. China considers Taiwan a breakaway province as the island is considered part of its territory.
To date, the conflict between the two parties has not been resolved. In the video, we talk about the economic power of Taiwan and its rivalry with China, as well as a brief visit Computex – the largest annual computer exhibition in the world. Taiwan’s relevance to the industry lies in the manufacturing giants such as (TSMC) Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, which alone owns more than half of the market share in global semiconductor manufacturing, especially in manufacturing the world’s most advanced chips. Other big names in the industry are Acer, Asus, MSI and MediTek.
Taiwan has been increasing chip exports for seven consecutive years, strengthening its position as a leader in the global semiconductor industry.
