We analyzed ThinkPad X13snew Lenovo model 13 thousand Brazilian reais which is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor. This is a business laptop for executives or people who travel a lot, especially because it is very light (about 1.06 kg) and because of the 5G mmWave range, peculiarity which is one of the main advantages of this model.

Lenovo laptop comes with Windows 11 ARM which can run up to Windows 11 Pro. It has its own Microsoft Office and has some pretty significant improvements over the previous generation. Lenovo has been working on this model for 4 years in partnership with Microsoft and Qualcomm.

Specifications ThinkPad X13s

  • 13.3″ IPS screen (1920 X 1200) with anti-glare

  • About 1.06 kg
  • Peak brightness 300 nits, 100% sRGB
  • refresh rate 60 Hz
  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • Webcam 5MP f/2.0*720p

PROCESSOR AND CONNECTIVITY

It is powered by a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 mobile processor, one of the most powerful and fastest to date. Because of the chip, it has the added capability of 5G mmWave or Sub-6GHz connectivity with 5G support. The laptop has a small SIM port to insert a SIM card if you want.

Lenovo stated that in their internal lab testing they achieved 1Giga transfer rates over the 5GmmWave standard, which may not work under normal user usage. In other words, all connectivity options are aimed at those who are going to travel and work, those who need to use their PC on the road, in cafes, at the airport… In a word, in places where there is no Internet access.

It has 2 x 10Gbps USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, but no Thunderbolt, so you can’t connect an external GPU if you want. It also has one for a safety cable and a P2 entry.

DESIGN

As the name suggests, this is a 13-inch laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio. A very standard Thinkpads design, with the traditional red trackpoint (mouse in the middle of the keyboard). This is a model with a very businesslike “face”, with a keyboard “travel” of 1.35 mm, that is, the distance between the key and the command plate, which makes it very comfortable for typing. It also has the usual 3 dedicated keys on the touchpad, and the keyboard is splash-proof.

The material for the previous generation X1 was carbon fiber, and this new line is 90% recycled magnesium – not as light as carbon, but still light for a laptop of this size. Speaking of recycling, all packaging materials for this model are made from recyclable paper and cardboard, and even bamboo in a product-protecting package instead of Styrofoam.

SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE

Suitable for running Microsoft application tasks and game streaming. It also handles multitasking well. In heavier tasks, the keyboard can get warm, but this does not interfere with its use.

It’s quiet because it’s passively cooled, as it doesn’t have any internal fans making noise. Another benefit they mentioned in the reviews is that they didn’t notice a big loss in performance from a laptop connected to the network and without a cable. Overall, it’s good for native gaming – it runs games from the Microsoft Store better, even if gaming isn’t the goal of this laptop.

BATTERY

Most impressive is the battery life of up to 28 hours – of course, with moderate use. Part of the long battery life is due to the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor. The 49.5 Wh battery is nearly double what an Intel-based Thinkpad laptop can handle. Supports fast charging.

FUNCTIONS

The round sensor on the left side is Qualcomm’s presence sensor, which detects when you’re away from the car and turns it off or puts it to sleep to conserve battery power. It has Windows Hello login with facial recognition and a fingerprint reader on the keyboard.

It’s got Lenovo’s security and management tools, everything you need and can use a Thinkpad – well suited even for business executives who want a laptop that gets the job done, has long battery life, and is secure. Thanks to 5G, it will be able to connect anywhere, provide good performance for office tasks and all day away from the outlet.

AUDIO

Speaker system Dolby Audio (2 speakers facing the user, 3 microphones). Qualcomm voice and sound suite, including AI-based echo cancellation, noise reduction technology, and aptX audio technology.
