To the bone: the government is going to make Russian drivers even poorer

It is somehow not customary to talk about this now, but the support of the Russian authorities for the domestic automaker, apparently, somehow goes too far. On the contrary, burning out all its competitors with napalm.

It’s a bit weird now. On the one hand, the ministers of the Russian government watch with emotion as currency speculators “knock down” the ruble on the market and make fortunes with it. Which will result in an increase in the price of anything and everything in the stores of the country. On the other hand, even a hint of market competition for the so-called domestic auto industry is strictly eliminated in a state-like manner.

Or rather, for its miserable remains with almost completely closed production of foreign cars on our territory. This is done, among other things, by a multiple increase in the recycling rate. That should happen as early as August 1, 2023.

According to various estimates, the retail value of every passenger car imported into Russia after this date will increase by at least 120,000 rubles. And for most of them, the price increase will be even greater. This allows Russian car factories to fully care about competition (and “score” on the quality of their products) and raise prices without regard to the market.

The result of the catastrophic move by the authorities, according to various estimates, will be a 30% drop in the volume of the Russian car market, even from the current miserable volumes. As well as forcing the already not very wealthy Russian motorists to “take off their last shirt” in order to purchase a new car. About the details of such a “wonderful future”, which is ready to come in a few weeks, and its catastrophic consequences, the next issue of the AvtoVzglyad portal podcast will tell (you can listen to it Here).
