Why experienced car mechanics never throw away old spark plugs
A rare car service, even if we are talking about an official dealer, can boast of order in the workshops of mechanics. The work is in full swing, there is no time to carefully put down the tools and sort the waste, because time is money. And not everything is nonsense that a simple layman sees as such at first sight.

The clutter in the mechanic’s workshop speaks of two things: firstly, they clearly work there and do not pretend, and secondly, there is a lot of this work. The owners of the gas station have already realized that the customer carefully looks at the elevator and its surroundings, it is rarely possible to drive the car owners into the “customer’s room”, everyone wants to follow the process.

But the chaos and dirt just isn’t enough justification for the high prices for the workshop’s services, so you have to force the “mechanics” to clean up. However, not everything that looks like waste and a used spare part is. For example, rusty and used candles, which have been lying on a workbench for more than a month, sometimes perform a very interesting task.

In the summer, many car owners come to wash radiators, refuel air conditioners, service the engine cooling system – replace antifreeze, flush elements or the entire circuit as a whole. Stories about the fact that we make sleds in the summer and a cart in the winter: garage stories that no one believes in anymore. If “bite” – so we will run. So, engine overheating is a summer pleasure that all car services are filled with.

The cooling system circuit consists of many tubes, each of which is pulled through a clamp. This is where an old candle comes in handy! It turns out that in terms of diameter it is an ideal plug that allows you to close the pipe so as not to drain all the antifreeze from the block, but only from the radiator (for example, for flushing).

Also when changing the type of coolant – although the original lasts a long time, it now costs merciless money – you need to flush the system with distilled water. To divide the circuit into parts and clean each with high quality, they also use a candle as a cork.

An experienced craftsman who has been repairing cars for a long time has many similar solutions: simple, cheap and working. Yes, sometimes they do not look very presentable, and for some customers who have not yet completely left the dealer service, they may even look like “handicrafts” that are not very suitable when repairing their expensive car. However, here you need to clearly answer the question for yourself: do you want to “checkers” or “go”? And if the latter is the case, it is better to let the professional finish his work and pass judgment on the fact, and not on the visual design of the process.
